Utah Girls State

This evening I was looking through pictures on my camera and I came across some from my endeavors at girls state this past summer.

Looking at the photos reminded me of all the friends from all over Utah that I will probably never ever see again ( I am such an optimist....)

For those of you who are not familiar with Utah Girls State, it is a week long program held down at SUU for girls (the summer before there senior year) interested in government and making a difference in the future of America.

I have always been heavily interested in politics and the political structure of our government.

Going to girls state was like a total dream come true!

We basically mimicked the states governmental system by running for city, county, and state offices.
Each city was named after a previous governor of Utah.

I belonged to Blood city, and was elected as a State representative.

We learned how to write and pass fantazmaglorious bills to benefit our' fellow girls state chicas.

All day we would act like politicians and attend various meetings.

It was a tight schedule and a usual day looked like this.

Wake up at 6:30

Attempt to get ready (We had to wear skirts and dresses every day.)

Fight over the bathroom (Who ever decided to have 8 girls share one bath room was koo-koo!)

Run like a mad women across campus to breakfast so you could have some time to enjoy it before an early morning meeting at 7:30.

Devotional with all cities at 8:00 in the great hall. (It looked like the Harry Potter feast hall.)

Meetings with County/City until lunch

12:00ish was lunch time

Stuff some type of food down your gullet.

1:00 Meetings resume until dinner.

6:00 Dinner (I wanted a nap five hours ago)

More meetings until 8:00

8:30 City Meetings

9:30 Go to your rooms and fight over who gets to take a shower.

After that they expect us to go to bed.

But you know what?

No matter how tiered I was an hour ago, when you put a bunch of girls in one area it is impossible to do anything but talk!

Who wants to sleep when you could be talking about cute boys, hear embarrassing stories, and play mafia into the wee hours of the morning.

It was fantazmagical!

My favorite day was when the Governor came to talk to us and after that a police detective showed us how they solved a murder mystery case.

It was like a an episode of Monk brought to life!

I made so many friends that I will never be able to forget.

Check out the pictures below.

To Ry-Ry

I love my family.

(No that was not a joke, I really do.)

They have always been there for me since day 1.

It seems that there is always that one sibling  that you seem closer to then any of your other ones.

If you are an "only child" I am sorry. (Maybe you have a stuffed animal you are close to???)

For me it is my spunky brother Ryan who is honestly one of my best friends.

Today I want to write a shout out to him.

It makes me sad when people complain about how much they hate there siblings.

I am not saying that my relationship with my brother is perfect and that we never fight (after all we are only human), but we never let our arguments get in the way of what matters most.

He is so kind and is always thinking about others.

Ryan gives me new insight to things I never thought about before.

He even stays up into the wee hours of the morning listening to me vent to him about all of my problems. (Sometime I have a lot of problems...)

I am one of those really highly emotional people and he holds me when I have an break down and lets me cry on his shoulder.

(This kind of happens a lot).

At school he acts tough -after all he is almost a black belt in karate- but at home I get to see his vulnerable side.

When people first meet him he can be kind of shy, but once you get to know him you realize that he is not shy at all.

In fact he is one of the funniest people I know.

Whenever I need to smile I always turn to him.

It has been great watching him come out of his shell this year by being our school mascot.

Not only has he wowed the crowed with his amazing dance moves (He does an Napoleon dynamite imitation), but all of the younger elementary school students love him and he loves them.

He is very diligent in his church callings and he would do anything for anyone.

Ryan is also really smart...(shhhhh he doesn't want any one to know.)

He is super talented with science, engineering, and building things out of wood.

One year for Christmas he carved these little tiny trains about the size of my pinky and gave them away as Christmas presents. Everyone loved them.

We make it through school by helping each other out. I am an english junky. I love writing and reading.  He is not. As I mentioned before he is more scientifically minded which is a blessing. (Free tutor... woot* woot* !
I help him with his papers+ He helps me with science= We both pass!

I know that he is my younger brother, but in many ways I feel like he is older then me.

I am constantly turning to him for protection, guidance, and direction.

The Lord has truly blessed me with a great brother.

When I get married I hope to be able to find a man that is just as great as my brother, which will be hard to do because as you can see my brother is incredible, but I am up for the challenge.

Thanks Ry for being so AWESOME!

Here are some pictures of my prodigious brother.

All ready for Trek

Don't mess with him when he is angry....

Me and my best friend

The younger years

Isn't he adorable!!

Feeling Sporty

Whats up??

You know when you eat a peanut butter sandwich without anything to drink and it makes your mouth and throat feel really sticky?

I hate that feeling and that is the way my throa feels except I did not eat any peanut butter.

Maybe I am getting sick....ughhhhhhh!!!!
It has been another fantastic day of school. (I am so tiered it is not even funny)

Today I just wanted to share with you my love for sports.
Softball is my current favorite. I have been playing it for 7 years now and I really Love it!

I play catcher for my team and nothing can compare to the thrill of having a batter almost taking your head off and the leg cramps you get after the 4th inning.

All in all though it is a great position because a good catcher can control the whole ball field. They can keep all the runners from stealing 2nd and third with one swoop of there arm.
Unfortunately I am not quite up to that caliber yet, but maybe one day I will be!

The other sport I love is soccer. I am goalie for my school's soccer team and it is SPLENDIFEROUS!

I sometimes have some issues because I am really short, but I have gotten better at jumping.

Sometimes I look like a jumping bean(:

Well yeah.... that is all I wanted to say.

My New Goal in Life

Oh the joys of schooling.

No sleep, tons of homework, and hardly any free time.

Sounds like mounds of fun, doesn't it? (I am being sarcastic...laugh)

Yep, this year sounds rather normal except for one thing.

GETTING READY!

I have had a hard time just finding the motivation to get ready in the mornings so I usually go to school with crusted on makeup, and my hair looking like I just rolled out of bed

(Haha, because guess what? I DID!)

This is a bad habit I am getting into that I need to fix. No one likes looking at an unkept grumpy person sitting in the corner away from the class.

So I am setting a new goal, and it is actually kinda sad that I am doing this but it must be done.

I will get ready every day this comming week. On my honor!

There you go.

Most people set goals that are awesome and really inspirational, and I set a goal to do a simple task.

As you can guess I am not like most people.

I am special! Extra special! REALLY EXTRA SPECIAL!!!

Or at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Anyways, Hope you guys all have an amazing Day!
